Senior AWS Cloud Platform Engineer, Enterprise Development (Remote)

Full time, United States

As a member of the Enterprise Development organization, you will work on a range of complex and high-impact cloud platform challenges and be responsible for designing, building, and evolving scalable AWS-based platform capabilities that enable product engineering teams.

You will contribute to the development of an internal cloud platform that simplifies and standardizes how applications are built, deployed, and operated across the enterprise. Working within a cross-functional team including Engineering, Architecture, Security, Operations, and Product - you will help drive platform adoption and improve developer experience across the organization.

You will collaborate closely with platform engineers, application teams, and enterprise stakeholders to deliver foundational capabilities in a complex, data-intensive, and distributed cloud environment. In this role, you will contribute not only to execution but also to shaping platform standards, improving automation, and enabling long-term scalability, reliability, and operational excellence across AWS environments.

We are looking for individuals who enjoy solving complex infrastructure and platform challenges, are comfortable working hands-on with cloud-native technologies, and are passionate about building reusable, self-service capabilities. You should be eager to dive deep into technical details, improve system internals, and enable teams to deliver faster with greater consistency and quality.

As a Senior AWS Cloud Platform Engineer, Enterprise Development, you will

  • Own the platform engineering strategy, roadmap, and delivery outcomes, enabling scalable, self-service infrastructure and developer productivity across the organization
  • Drive adoption of platform capabilities including CI/CD templates, reusable modules, golden paths, and standardized environments across engineering teams
  • Establish Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation) with reusable, versioned modules to ensure consistency, compliance, and scalability
  • Architect and manage multi-account AWS environments with strong governance, security guardrails, and automated onboarding for application teams
  • Enable self-service provisioning of infrastructure, pipelines, and services through developer portals and APIs (e.g., Backstage or similar platforms)
  • Implement centralized observability (logs, metrics, traces) with integrated tooling (CloudWatch, Datadog, Open Telemetry) to support operational excellence
  • Define and enforce platform standards for security, compliance, cost optimization, and reliability
  • Partner with application engineering teams to onboard them onto the platform, ensuring seamless adoption and high developer experience
  • Act as the primary SME for cloud-native patterns including microservices, event-driven architectures, serverless, and container platforms (EKS/ECS)
  • Lead platform reliability initiatives including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and resilience engineering practices
  • Proactively manage system-wide risks, platform dependencies, and trade-offs between flexibility and standardization
  • Collaborate with architects to define scalable data and integration patterns aligned with enterprise architecture
  • Mentor platform engineers and DevOps teams, building strong expertise in automation, cloud architecture, and platform design
  • Establish KPIs for platform adoption, developer productivity, deployment efficiency, and operational maturity
  • Serve as the strategic bridge between infrastructure, security, and application teams to drive platform-first engineering culture

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or Business/Technology Management, or relevant experience
  • Extensive experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure roles, with strong focus on building internal platforms at scale
  • Deep expertise in AWS services including compute (EC2, Lambda), containers (EKS/ECS), storage (S3), networking (VPC), Events(SQS, SNS, Event Bridge)
  • Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation), including building reusable modules and frameworks
  • Experience with developer portals and self-service tooling (Backstage or equivalent)
  • Advanced knowledge of CI/CD design and standardization using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS-native services
  • You have a strong understanding of cloud security best practices (IAM, KMS, secrets management, network isolation, compliance enforcement)
  • Experience managing multi-account AWS environments with centralized governance, logging, and monitoring
  • Hands-on experience with observability tools (Datadog, ELK, CloudWatch) and defining SLO-driven monitoring practices
  • Expertise in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS)
  • You have an understanding of developer experience principles, including reducing cognitive load and enabling faster delivery cycles
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, etc.) for platform tooling and integration
  • Proven ability to influence engineering teams to adopt platform standards and best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to design scalable abstractions for complex infrastructure challenges
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to articulate platform vision and value to both technical and business stakeholders
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt platform strategy to evolving enterprise needs
