Legal Counsel: Maternity Cover (Remote)

Full Time, Temporary, Utrecht, Netherlands

BCD is looking to hire a qualified commercial contracts lawyer on a temporary basis to provide maternity cover for a period of six (6) months within BCD Travel’s European legal team. The primary emphasis for this position will be supporting BCD Travel in providing service-oriented, business-minded legal advice. The position can be virtual or office based depending on location.

As Legal Counsel: Maternity Cover, you will

Provide expert and strategic legal advice to BCD’s commercial stakeholders in Europe and other regions, as needed
Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts including, Benelux, multi-national and regional client and supplier contracts, NDAs, and other legal documents
Provide accurate, relevant, and timely legal and business advice to internal teams including sales, program management, supplier relations, operations and other types of commercial contracts
Advise internal clients of potential legal risks and recommending strategy to manage and minimize risks from a legal point of view in close cooperation with the internal client
Manage legal claims and where needed, manage litigation with outside counsel
Monitor the development of new laws affecting the business

About you

Dutch qualified lawyer with extensive in-house experience within a multinational law department
Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English
Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills
Must have a customer-service oriented approach to practicing law with an eye towards practical application
Must be detail-oriented and a skilled draftsperson and negotiator
Ability to interact directly with the company's senior leadership, proposing practical and creative solutions to complex business issues and providing pragmatic risk assessments
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions, organizations and with a diverse group of colleagues at all levels
Must have a good sense of humor and be a team-player who will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and collegial atmosphere
Experience in travel industry preferred, but not essential
