AR Specialist

Full time, Heredia, Costa Rica

The AR Specialist ensures that daily cash receipts are recorded accurately and correctly referenced; and that documentation is kept and filed correctly. This role is responsible for processing Merchant Charges and posting the payment either to open AR or GL according to instructions received from the requestor. You will process billing uploads and AR maintenance, refund, and write-off requests.

 

As an AR Specialist, you will

  • Communicate with clients and customers to request and arrange payments
  • Apply all collections via credit card
  • Be responsible for customer account reconciliations
  • Support account receivable maintenance, refund, and write-off requests
  • Follow up on the unbilling items for prompt resolution
  • Assist with petty cash & check processing for refunds
  • Post all incoming funds into the appropriate accounting or back office system
  • Resolve inquiries promptly
  • Process credit card transactions and work with the requestor to resolve any declined charges
  • Ensure financial records are kept in good order and filed correctly
  • Provide ad-hoc research to/for the Finance Manager
  • Assist with training new and existing team members
  • Ensure all the team's procedures are kept accurately and up to date
  • Suggest any amendments that might improve the efficiency of the department
  • Process Account Receivable Refund requests
  • Process Account Receivable Maintenance requests

 

About you

  • You have a College, Associate, or University degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • A2 to B2 english level
  • Prior experience with collections, invoicing, and/or accounts receivable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and basic accounting principles
  • Strong attention to detail with a dedication to accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze large sets of data
  • High degree of familiarity with accounts receivable functions
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to multi-task and prioritize workload Preferred NIIF, Taxes, and free zone knowledge Budget, forecast, and ad-hoc reports experience Public accounting experience
