Databricks Data Security/ Governance Engineer (Remote)

Full time, United States

 

This role will define and enforce data governance, security, and compliance using Unity Catalog. This role ensures sensitive data is protected while enabling self-service analytics.

 

This role requires interfacing with technical and business personnel and engineering system solutions to meet current needs as well as planned capabilities. This role is responsible for understanding the detail business and technical data and storage requirements, participation in defining the strategic direction of the environment and ensuring the tactical direction of proposed solutions are aligned with technology and product roadmaps.

 

Support of implemented solutions involves working with business and technical personnel to proactively address items that could impact the stability, reliability, recoverability, auditability, security and performance of our production systems. Support duties also involve daily operational tasks, troubleshooting, incident management and problem resolution.

 

As a Databricks Data Security/ Governance Engineer, you will

  • Design Unity Catalog permission models and ownership standards
  • Provide technical support to customers including responding to questions, resolving issues, providing guidance and support as needed. Interface with tracking system to prioritize tasks and document solutions
  • Establish strong working relationships with internal customers insuring a solid understanding of the current business needs and future direction
  • Define, document, and present solutions to proactively address the business needs
  • Be the subject matter expert (SME) for the database environment, AlwaysOn architecture, SAN technologies 
  • Ensure the solutions meet the documented standards for naming, hardening, PCI, archiving and maintenance processes through formal processes, i.e. code and architecture reviews

 

About you

  • Bachelors / four-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related field of study (or equivalent experience)
  • Prior experience in data governance, security, or data architecture
  • Hands-on Unity Catalog or similar governance tools
  • Experience with data access policies and masking
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR, NIST etc.)
  • Expertise in AWS IAM and with auditing CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for security vulnerabilities

The salary range for candidates in applicable jurisdictions in the US for the position of Databricks Data Security/ Governance Engineer is between $136,000 and $143,000. The actual pay depends on your skills, qualifications, experience and geographical location.
