Associate Privacy Lawyer (Remote)

Full time, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Brasil, Argentina, Costa Rica. 

 

BCD Travel is looking to hire a qualified privacy lawyer meeting the below specifications. The primary emphasis for this position will be to support the BCD Travel Privacy Team in providing service-oriented, business-minded assistance in connection with data privacy matters. The position may be virtual or office-based where BCD Travel has a presence.

As a Associate Privacy Lawyer, you will 

  • Advise internal colleagues with respect to all matters pertaining to data privacy to promote compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including any applicable data protection laws given the global nature of BCD Travel’s business.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate data privacy terms in various agreements, including, but not limited to, client agreements, vendor data processing agreements, transfer agreements, and standard contractual clauses.
  • Work with legal, privacy, and other staff on privacy assessments and questions related to privacy.
  • Monitor changes in laws, regulations, trends, discussions, and best business practices related to data privacy and communicate internally, proposing risk mitigation strategies and changes to our policies and guidelines accordingly.
  • Advise internal staff based on various privacy related policies, procedures, and strategies.
  • Advise on privacy issues related to new products and services.

About you 

  • Experience in a law firm and/or in-house law department (3+ years experience preferred) 
  • Experience advising on global data protection and privacy laws
  • Relevant privacy certification (e.g. CIPP/E, CIPP/US) or equivalent is a plus
  • Ability to translate the legal data protection obligations in the context of the services BCD Travel provides
  • Customer-service oriented approach with an eye towards practical application
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work well under pressure 
  • Experience with OneTrust or similar platform helpful, but not required
  • Experience in travel industry preferred, but not required
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Must be detail-oriented and a skilled draftsperson
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written\
  • Ability to travel if necessary
