Production Coordinator

 

The Production Coordinator plays a key role within the BCD Live Production & Content team, providing technical and operational support for live and virtual events. This position works closely with the live production team to manage the technical pre-production aspects of each event, ensuring seamless execution.

 

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a strong foundation in project management. They thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, and maintain a service-first mindset.

 

As a Production Coordinator, you will: 
•    Plan and execute two to three small-scale broadcasts and in-person events per month, including diagramming in Vectorworks, scheduling, equipment and labor procurement, and logistics coordination.
•    Manage and operate the BCD studio and location studio events.
•    Oversee the technical execution of virtual events across platforms such as Zoom, Brightcove, and Microsoft Teams.
•    Prepare, test, and maintain BCD-owned equipment for events.
•    Organize and maintain equipment storage areas to ensure efficiency and accessibility.
•    Provide on-site event support, including technical directing and show operations based on experience.
•    Act as a client liaison when necessary, offering technical expertise and real-time problem-solving for on-site adjustments.
•    Assist Senior Production Managers and the Director of Event Management in executing larger-scale events.


You are good at: 
•    Verbal and written communication.
•    Multi-tasking and thriving in a fast-paced, start-up-style environment.
•    Working under tight deadlines and quick turnarounds.
•    Communicating calmly and professionally in high-pressure situations.
•    Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/PPT etc.), Keynote, Mac operating systems.
•    Lifting up to 50lbs and working with equipment and large cases.

 

You might also have:
•    Vectorworks experience 
•    Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel 
•    Prior experience in technical operations and/or production management.

 

You should know:
•    This is a hybrid role, requiring three days per week in the Chicago office with on-site travel as needed.
•    Travel for this role is approximately 30-50%.
•    Our peak season currently falls in Q1, during which time blackout dates apply for time-off requests.
•    A valid driver’s license is required.
•    A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in theater or live events is required.
•    Standard working hours are 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with a one-hour break.
•    Covid vaccination may be required for this role.

We carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors, including your professional background and experience. The salary range for candidates in applicable jurisdictions in the US for the position of Production Coordinator  is between $50,000 - $70,000. The actual pay depends on your skills, qualifications, experience, geographical location, and project budget.
