The Local Account Manager is responsible and accountable for retention, strategic development, and management of all assigned markets in delivering the account management function. Responsibility also includes providing excellent client and employee support and exhibiting leadership in the areas of problem resolution, customer service, technology knowledge, and process/policy adherence. 

The Local Account Manager demonstrates industry knowledge while possessing experience in project management, program implementation, client management and meeting technology.

 

Local Account Manager

Full time, Andheri East. Mumbai 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure strong understanding of client contracts, obligations, and SMMP (Strategic Meetings Management Program) concepts.
  • Develop annual business plans aligned with regional strategy to strengthen local relationships and evolve into a strategic partner.
  • Design and execute local business plans, offering strategic and tactical input to support account development, retention, and growth.
  • Guide and support clients through change management processes, influencing decisions to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Prepare monthly reports on program spend, savings, and profitability; monitor key income drivers and report forecast variances.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews of business and operational performance.
  • Review local client account P&L, lead improvement initiatives, manage commercial discussions, and propose pricing adjustments due to material changes.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal support teams and external client teams; act as primary contact for escalated service issues.
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust client expectations and service level requirements to ensure satisfaction and alignment.
  • Maximize use of preferred venues within client companies; ensure visibility of commission rates and negotiate enhanced levels where applicable.
  • Monitor preferred supplier usage and ensure accurate, timely entry of supplier spend in meeting technology systems.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, benchmarks, and strategic developments; communicate relevant insights and BCD M&E offerings to clients.
  • Lead new project implementations, managing the full implementation process.
  • Foster strong relationships between operations team members and client stakeholders.
  • Provide support for travel and meetings account management as needed.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required, beyond the scope of this job description.
 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in incentives, event planning, and/or program management
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in budgeting and managing overall client financial performance
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in account/client management
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in operational management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated adaptability and ability to respond effectively to change
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking and delivering presentations
  • Ability to think innovatively, strategically, and conceptually
  • Proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate, initiate, and resolve customer or vendor issues
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) or CMM (Certification in Meeting Management) strongly preferred
  • Experience managing Strategic Meetings Management Programs (SMMP)
  • Background in business travel operations or management
