Azure Data Lake (ADLS) Data Platform Specialist (Remote)

Full time, Bogota, Colombia

 

We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Platform Engineer to design and implement a scalable, secure, and high-performing data platform. This role will be instrumental in integrating data from multiple source systems (including SAP HANA) into a unified data lake and reporting layer.

 

You will play a key role in enabling standardized global financial reporting, improved data visibility, and analytics capabilities across the business.

 

As a Azure Data Lake (ADLS) Data Platform Specialist, you will

  • Design, develop, and maintain data ingestion pipelines, establishing standards for data ingestion, transformation, and storage, and integrating data from multiple management and financial systems (batch and streaming)
  • Design and implement a modern data platform using Azure (ADLS Gen2-based architecture)
  • Define data architecture patterns, including medallion (bronze/silver/gold) layers
  • Build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory
  • Handle diverse data formats (structured, semi-structured)
  • Design and implement data lake architecture in Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2)
  • Structure and manage data using bronze/silver/gold layers (medallion architecture)
  • Optimise data storage, partitioning, and performance
  • Integrate ADLS with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics / Databricks, and Power BI and downstream analytics tools
  • Implement data governance, security, and access controls (RBAC, IAM, ACLs)
  • Ensure data quality, lineage, and metadata management
  • Support business teams with data modelling and availability
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot data platform issues
  • Implement partitioning, indexing, and data lifecycle management
  • Optimize cost vs performance in Azure
  • Manage large-scale datasets efficiently
  • Define and implement access control (RBAC, ACLs) and data security and compliance standards
  • Ensure consistency of financial data across regions
  • Support data lineage and auditability for finance

 

About you

  • Proven experience designing and implementing Azure data platforms
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) and Azure Data Factory (ADF) 
  • Experience integrating ERP and finance systems (SAP highly desirable)
  • Strong SQL and Power Query skills and experience working with large datasets
  • Experience with data modelling for financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Python or Spark (Databricks preferred but not essential)
  • Experience building end-to-end data pipelines
  • Understanding of data lake vs warehouse vs Lakehouse patterns and financial data structures and reporting requirements
